The fabric on this pleated skirt is really what drew me in. It’s a rich dark chocolate brown with light blue polka dots, and in certain lighting it almost takes on a mahogany tone. It’s a lovely, eye-catching combination without feeling like too much. The construction is solid, and when the fit is right, the pleating and cut let it hang beautifully. For reference, I’m 5'8", 122 lbs with a 29" natural waist, and I ordered a medium. On me, it cut in a bit too sharply at the waist, which caused it to flare more at the hips than I prefer. I think a large would have given it a better drape and a more balanced look.I ended up giving it to my daughter, who has a 26" waist, and it looked much better on her—very chic. (That may or may not have something to do with the age difference!) If you’re on the edge of the size range, I would recommend sizing up to give it a better drape over the hips. One design detail I didn’t love was the waistband. It has a ribbon-like contrasting band that stands out more than I’d like and introduces another color to work around. It doesn’t ruin the look, but it doesn’t add to it either. I would have preferred a matching waistband. The underskirt isn’t visible, but it also doesn’t coordinate particularly well. All in all, this is a really pretty fabric that makes a lovely skirt—it just comes down to getting the right size.
